Job description:

• Managing the Process Department salaried staff in terms of safety, personal development and overall performance in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.

• As part of the management team take a leadership role in improved plant safety.

• Ensuring that the production of the raw mix, clinker and cement conforms to quality and production demands.

• Monitoring the process performance of the entire plant on a day to day basis and define corrective actions together with Maintenance, Production and Quality departments.

• Optimizing plant equipment (Quarry to Finish Mills) performance as measured through KPI s (eg. OEE, PRI, MTBI s, HLC UF, etc) over the short, mid and long term.

• Conduct and assign process inspections and performance review on a daily basis.

• Identify and conduct studies, audits, tests and measurements within the Process department in order to improve performance.

• Define an audit plan and supervise the audits to detect irregularities and find potential improvements.

• Ensuring audits and studies are documented and shared.

• Contributing to fuel cost optimization (optimization of lowest fuel cost) by ensuring (optimising) process condition (STEC) which allows maximum utilisation of alternative fuel and raw materials.

• Identifying actions targeting the reduction of overall plant power consumption (SEEC). • Identifying and preparing for mid and long terms process (PDP) and environmental improvement needs.

• Ensuring the existence and correctness of process-related SOP s.

• Fostering an awareness of process requirements within all departments.

• Liaison with other department heads to ensure that the safety, maintenance, process, quality, environment, and administrative aspects of the operation are meeting the plant objectives.

Tasks

• Review processing schedules or production orders to make decisions concerning inventory requirements, staffing requirements, work procedures, or duty assignments, considering budgetary limitations and time constraints.

• Direct or coordinate production, processing, distribution, or marketing activities of industrial organizations.

• Develop or implement production tracking or quality control systems, analyzing the production, quality control, maintenance, or other operational reports, to detect production problems.

• Review operations and confer with technical or administrative staff to resolve production or processing problems.

• Hire, train, evaluate, or discharge staff or resolve personnel grievances.

• Prepare and maintain production reports or personnel records.

• Set and monitor product standards, examining samples of raw products or directing testing during processing, to ensure finished products are of prescribed quality.

• Develop budgets or approve expenditures for supplies, materials, or human resources, ensuring that materials, labour, or equipment are used efficiently to meet production targets.

• Initiate or coordinate inventory or cost control programs.

• Coordinate or recommend procedures for facility or equipment maintenance or modification, including the replacement of machines.

• Review plans and confer with research or support staff to develop new products or processes.

• Institute employee suggestion or involvement programs. •

Maintain current knowledge of the quality control field, relying on current literature pertaining to materials use, technological advances, or statistical studies. • Negotiate materials prices with suppliers.

Required skills and experience 

• Proven work experience cement manufacturing experience.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering, or other related discipline and/or equivalent combination of knowledge, skills and abilities. • Excellent knowledge of cement technology and manufacturing process.

• Excellent leadership ability and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to interact with plant and regional personnel.

Responsibilities

• Participates in every aspect of the implementation from analyzing the customer’s business requirements to configuring the Business infor Ln application to meet the customer’s needs.
